Teenage Couple Taking Drugs At HomeIn order to shed the stigma of marijuana being known as the primary gateway drug, people who support marijuana usage tend to attempt to focus on some of the positive aspects and side effects of the drug. Although some of these claims are backed up by scientific evidence, you must also consider the fact that the use of marijuana can also lead to abuse and even cases of severe dependency. This drug is not always as harmless as it may seem.

Some false information has been spread concerning how marijuana usage affects the human mind and body. Several states have allowed the drug to be used in certain medical or recreational exceptions, but the federal government still considers marijuana to be an illegal substance. People who live in states with exceptions for marijuana use have been arrested for breaking state or federal laws.

To make things clear, anyone who uses marijuana or other psychoactive substances should be very careful. Long-term marijuana usage will result in higher tolerance levels. The drug is not considered legal by the US federal government, even though some states have enacted laws that allow its limited usage for very specific medical or recreational circumstances. However, the drug has not been approved by the FDA.
